About this event

Join us for a 45–60 minute informational session focused on building a dementia-friendly community.

Participants will:

  • Learn about Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia

  • Recognize common signs and symptoms of dementia

  • Gain practical tips for communicating and interacting with people living with dementia

  • Learn how to create dementia-friendly physical spaces

Background: Dementia is a community issue that must be addressed at the community level. A dementia-friendly community is informed, safe, and respectful of individuals living with dementia and their families; offers supportive options across community sectors; and fosters quality of life for all.

Who should attend: Community members, volunteers, service providers, businesses, faith communities, and anyone interested in building a more inclusive community.

This session is informed by the principles of Dementia Friendly America, a multi-sector national collaboration working to advance dementia-friendly communities across the United States.
